Man Charged With Shooting 3 At Long Island Party
COPIAGUE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested and charged Saturday with an early-morning shooting that wounded three people in Copiague, Long Island.
Suffolk County police were dispatched at 1:40 a.m. Saturday to 215 Maple Ct. in Copiague, to break up a party to which they had already been called once that night. Upon responding the second time, officers found three people had been shot.
The crowd dispersed, but one person stayed and told police that Tehron Sims, 25, of Amityville was the gunman. Sims was arrested on the spot, police said.
Sims has since been charged with three counts of assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was set to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
The three shooting victims were all taken to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. Police did not specify their ages or genders.
The investigation into the shooting was ongoing Saturday afternoon. Police asked anyone who attended the party and might have information to call the Suffolk County police First Squad confidentially at (631) 854-8152.
