Man Charged With Selling Jewelry Without Permit Claims It's Art
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A self-described witch doctor who was convicted of selling jewelry without a vendor's permit in Union Square last October is on trial again after another arrest on the same charge.
Angel Silva has testified once again that what he sells are holistic rocks and crystals to be worn as pendants. He claims they are works of art and carry spiritual powers.
A city decree says artists can sell their works on the street without permits, which Silva believes he qualifies under.

WCBS 880's Irene Cornell reported the judge who heard the previous case rejected his argument, but that Silva is trying it again.
Silva said he is willing to be arrested 100 times just to help people and support his art.
