Man Charged In Deadly Meadowbrook Parkway Crash Accused Of Having Meth In System
NORTH MERRICK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A respected college dean is being held on $1 million bond after being slapped with additional charges in a deadly Long Island crash.
Robert Beodeker, 50, entered a not guilty plea to new counts of aggravated vehicular manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and driving while impaired by drugs.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by CBS 2, he had methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system at the time of the accident.
Beodeker was initially charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended license after a march 4 crash on the Meadowbrook Parkway.
Police said his pickup truck slammed into two men working on their disabled vehicle.
"This was a terrible accident," said defense attorney Richard Wool. "He's upset. He got out of his car. He saw people lying in the street. He was very emotional."
If convicted, Beodeker faces 25 years in prison.
