Man Caught With 25 Kilos Of Meth In Trunk Of Car At Holland Tunnel Arraigned
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A driver is facing drug trafficking charges after he was stopped just outside the Holland Tunnel with $1.6 million worth of crystal meth stashed in the trunk of the car.
The driver, 33-year-old Mario Hernandez was held on half a million dollars bond at arraignment, WCBS 880's Irene Cornell reported. His lawyer insisted it was a rental car and that his client was unaware of the contents of the trunk.

It was a huge seizure in which detectives had to use a furniture moving dolly to haul the 25 kilos of crystal meth out of the trunk, Cornell reported.
The light blue crystals were stowed in boxes used to transport stone tiles.
Narcotics prosecutors are expressing growing concern at the rise of the use of crystal meth from Mexico at a time when heroin deaths have outpaced the number of murders in the city.
