Caught On Camera: Police Search For Man And Woman Seen Sucker-Punching, Robbing Victim On Brooklyn Street
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The NYPD is searching for a man and woman seen on video beating and robbing a man earlier this month in Brooklyn.
Police said the victim parked his car around 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 6 near Goodwin Place and Greene Avenue in Bushwick.
Surveillance video shows the suspects walk up to him, and the man punches him in the face. When the victim falls to the ground, the man keeps punching him as the woman kicks him in the head and body.
Police said the suspects also stole the victim's iPhone X and wallet containing $50.
"It was brutal, they were brutal people, they clearly seem like they did it before and they wouldn't hesitate to do it again," neighbor Gabriel Check said.
Neighbors CBS2's Christina Fan showed the attack to were stunned by the violent nature of the mugging as was the victim himself who spoke to CBS2 over the phone. He asked us not to use his name.
"I kind of collapsed to my right, went down on my hands and knees. They proceeded to start kicking and punching the two of them and I just kind of got into the fetal position," the victim said.
"What I thought was so odd about it was, the guy hit me with such force and it was clear from the onset they really wanted to hurt me. That was the thing that really struck me."
The victim admitted he was looking down at the time of the attack. The robbery becoming a reminder to him and others to pay more attention to who is walking around you in New York City.
"When I'm walking home in the dark or anything I'm just always on my guard as much as possible," Brooklyn resident Tia Vannoy said.
The victim was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in stable condition and treated for a cut to his lip and pain and swelling to his head and body.
