Man Arrested On Gun Possession Charge At Newark Airport
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - A Newark man has been arrested on weapons charges at Newark Liberty International Airport after a loaded handgun was found in his car, the Port Authority Police announced Tuesday.
Ernesto Green, 21, was stopped on a parking garage ramp at Terminal A late Monday afternoon after his car was seen blocking traffic, police said.
When they ran his license, police say they found he had two outstanding warrants and arrested him.
Police say they found a Walther P22 semi-automatic pistol in the vehicle's console.
Green is charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Police say he is being assigned a public defender. His bail was set at $50,000.
