Man Accused Of Hosting Overcrowded Party At Abandoned L.I. Warehouse
HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island man was arrested Friday night, after police said he threw a party with more than 500 people at an abandoned warehouse where no one should have been.
Suffolk County police responded around 10:30 p.m. after someone complained about the wild party in the warehouse behind 1026 New York Ave. in Huntington Station.
Upon arriving, officers found about 560 people in the abandoned building.
The warehouse did not have fire alarms, sprinklers or proper exits, and several windows were boarded up, police said. The building was also crowded beyond capacity.
Richard Hall, 47, was the organizer of the party, police said. He was charged with second-degree criminal nuisance, and was held overnight at the Suffolk County Second Precinct police station.
Hall was set to appear at Suffolk County First District Court in Central Islip Saturday.
The Huntington town Fire Marshal's office was also notified of the party, police said.
