NYPD Investigates Fatal Shooting Of South Carolina Man In Brooklyn
NEW YORK (CBS 2) – Police were sorting out the details of a deadly shooting in Brooklyn, Dave Carlin reports.
Candles were left on an East Flatbush sidewalk for Trevonne Winn, murdered on a spot far from home. Relatives said the 24-year-old from Red Hill, South Carolina, was in the area to visit his Aunt.
His execution style murder was caught on restaurant surveillance video at 7:40 p.m. Saturday on Nostrand Avenue.
Winn on his cell phone, the suspect whose face is never visible, walked up to him, then repeatedly fired into him at close range.
"Senseless, he didn't know nobody out here," said Rob Tory of East Flatbush.
"Twenty-four-years-old, he aint even really started life. This is the community you live in," lamented resident Tawanda Talford.
Winn was pronounced dead here at Kings County Hospital Center. He leaves behind a young daughter, only 16-months-old.
"Might be mistaking somebody else, I don't know," said Angelo Charles of East Flatbush. "I opened the door, seen it, then went back upstairs."
When contacted by phone, the baby's mother and Winn's girlfriend, Andreaka Broom, said he had no enemies.
"He had dreams. And all that was cut short," she said.
Broom urged the killer in the video to think of the baby girl and all the grieving family and friends and to turn himself in to police.
