Malusis: Lance Armstrong Is A Ruined American Icon

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- So did Lance Armstrong's confession have the impact he wanted?

WFAN Sports Radio host and television talent Marc "Moose" Malusis hit The Couch on Friday to dissect the cyclist's confession, what he called a "last ditch effort" to save his name.

"Really, when you look at it, I think [his fans] all believed he doped before this," he said. "I think it's like a last ditch effort. You know, he was dropped by Nike, he was dropped by Livestrong, he's lost all his sponsors. He's basically on the verge of...he could've gone to prison."

With former teammates turning against Armstrong, Malusis went so far as to say the disgraced athlete's "apology" was insincere.

LIGUORI: Lance no longer in control

"I think he's a bully. I think he has been. I think he sued people that didn't deserve to be sued to try and preserve the lie," Malusis said.

It's going to be hard to salvage his reputation.

"And he's done some good, he raised $500 million dollars in Livestrong Foundation. But with that being said, at the time, the sport of cycling was extremely dirty. But he built himself up that he did it completely clean."

Malusis called the appearance on Oprah the first, small step for Armstrong to work his way back into competitive athletics.

"I think he's a completely ruined American icon."
