A small, unassuming storefront, it's all too easy to keep walking past House of Sandwich (aka Pomodoro Sandwich House; the signs out front are a little unclear) without ever feeling compelled to step inside. You might think it's just like any other sandwich shop in the area, but that would be doing House of Sandwich a great disservice. Aside from excellent, made-to-order sandwiches, they offer housemade soups that change daily, and pasta dishes to sate the hungriest of folks- all for about $10. Any of their sandwiches can be had as a 'half' - with a bag of chips, or a bowl of soup (choose from small or large) - making your lunch infinitely customizable. Try all the combinations!

Krystal's Cafe

6902 Roosevelt Ave
Woodside, NY 11377
(718) 898-1900

Embrace your adventurous side, and sit inside Krystal's Cafe. On one side you'll see bakery cases of delicious looking goodies, and all around you are Filipino locals in the know about Krystal's. Have a seat and order the lumpia, which look much like standard egg rolls, but one bite and you'll find yourself in pork heaven. Crispy outside, juicy, meaty inside, the dipping sauce only enhances each bite with a bit of sour tanginess. Order the sizzling sissig (pictured) - if you're squeamish, don't ask what parts of the pig it is - and mix the raw egg with the hot meat quickly, then squirt the lemon juice over it liberally. Delicious, fatty, wonderful with fluffy white rice. Yum!

Goodburger offers up, well, good burgers. Dedicated to making food that is both fresh and good, they bring to the table burgers made with beef they've ground themselves in their own facilities to maintain quality control, fries cooked in 100% trans-fat free vegetable oil, fresh vegetables for toppings... just about everything you'd want in an excellent burger. Try on with The Works - lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard AND mayo - or pick and choose your favorites. Cheese is only an extra 75c, while bacon or a portobello mushroom will run you $2... but crispy or grilled onions are only 25c each. Go crazy with the toppings!
