Luna Park Will Stay Open Through October
NEW YORK (AP) -- Autumn begins Wednesday, but Brooklyn's borough president says Coney Island amusements are still "red hot.''
Marty Markowitz was among officials announcing Tuesday that Luna Park will extend its season through the end of October.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the amusement park drew more than 400,000 visitors this summer.
The city and Central Amusement International launched Luna Park in May as part of a revitalization plan.
It's the namesake of a wildly popular park that opened in 1903 and burned down in 1944.
The first Luna Park featured hundreds of thousands of lights -- such a spectacle that people started using the phrase, "It's lit up like Luna Park.''
