Lucky Couples Get Valentine's Day Weddings At Empire State Building
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Three lucky couples are getting married today at the observation deck of the Empire State Building.
Danielle Brabham and Michael Lynch of Miami turned their year-long friendship into a romance when the lights went out during Hurricane Isaac.
"I wasn't expecting anything that night except a hurricane, and I got a proposal, Danielle said.
"Did you intend to propose during a hurricane?" WCBS 880 reporter Marla Diamond asked Michael.
"Not like that. I didn't intend it on that day," he said. "It was supposed to be a helicopter flight, which ended up getting cancelled and then realizing there's no perfect time, I didn't want to wait any longer and just surprised her that night."

Now they'll be starting their life together on top of the world.
"It's such an iconic building and just stood the test of time and we're going to plan to do that as well," she said.

For Kari Moery and John Kelly, it wasn't love at first sight.
"He was the scrawny, geeky kid next door," she told WCBS 880 reporter Marla Diamond, who asked him what he thought of her.
"She was a little goody two-shoes," he said.
The two schoolmates reconnected 23 years and two failed marriages later through Facebook.
"So you found out you had a lot more in common than you thought as children?" asked Diamond.
"Tons," they both answered.
John, an Army Reservist from Virginia and Kari, who lives in Massachusetts, made their long distance relationship work and their Valentine's Day wedding courtesy of the Empire State Building is a dream come true.
"It's like the most romantic building in the world. You can't ask for much more than this," she said.
All of the weddings are courtesy of the ESB.
Designing these weddings is celebrity wedding planner Preston Bailey, who planned the nuptials of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
"I am in the business of Valentine. I mean this is enormous. That's one of the reasons that I decided to get married on this day, because I think it reminds us all to be a little bit in love, which I think is great," he said.
He'll be number four to tie the knot when he marries Theo Bleckmann.
Joan Rivers will be doing the ceremony for the two of them.
