NYPD: 22-Month-Old Who Died In June Had Ingested Cocaine Laced With Fentanyl, Death Ruled Homicide
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are now calling the death of a baby on the Lower East Side a homicide.
Investigators responded to a 911 call on Baruch Place just after 4 a.m. on June 17.
They found 22-month-old Charles Rosa-Velloso facedown on a bed, unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at New York Downtown Hospital.
Police now say the child ingested a combination of cocaine laced with fentanyl. It's unclear if he ingested the drugs accidentally or if it was fed to him.
