Long Island Substitute Teacher Pleads Not Guilty To Charges He Had Sex With Student
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A Long Island substitute teacher and volleyball coach has pleaded not guilty to a third degree rape charge against him for allegedly having sex with a teenage girl.
Allan Concepcion, 38, is accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl a number of times.
As WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported, Concepcion mainly looked down as he faced the judge in First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday. The judge said the defendant made admissions to police, Hall reported.
Prosecutors said Concepcion coached the girl on the Eastport South Manor Junior-Senior High School volleyball team.

Attorney Peter Stein said his client has never been arrested before.
"Mr. Concepcion, like I said, is an honorable young man. He's got a college degree, masters degree," Stein told Hall. "I have no idea at this point if he ever met this girl."
Concepcion is also an assistant coach with the Long Island Fury volleyball team, and has worked as a gymnastics coach at the Hampton Bays Middle School, police said.
Concepcion was arrested at his Mt. Sinai home Tuesday morning and held overnight by Suffolk County Police ahead of his court appearance on Wednesday.
He was released after posting $5,000 cash bail.
The school district said it has made efforts to ensure that Concepcion will not be permitted on school grounds.
