Long Island Mom Gets $16.6 Million After Daughter Hit By Car
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A mother has reached a $16.6 million settlement with a Long Island village after her daughter was hit by a car, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

Madricka Watson, 10, was trying to cross a busy street with her brother in Hempstead after school five years ago when she was hit by a car.
The family's attorney said the village had a poorly trained crossing guard with no stop sign when the accident happened.
Watson's mother, Mildred Curry, said the money will go towards the constant care of her daughter.
The girl is now unable to speak or walk and was in a wheelchair next to her mother and brother as they spoke to reporters on Wednesday.
"She goes through a lot every single day. It's not easy for her," Curry said. "It's not easy being nonverbal."
Her 14-year-old brother Jovan Watson said he wants changes to be made, including hiring a second crossing guard.
"I want that intersection to become more safe," he said.
Curry also wants the speed limit in the area reduced to 15 miles per hour.
