Vadala fled the scene, but since he lives next door, he was easy to locate, police told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.
Suffolk County police said Vadala, 20, was awaiting arraignment in Central Islip on Sunday.
Information on his attorney was not immediately available.
The home's residents are staying at a motel while damage is assessed and repairs are made.
