Long Island Man Arrested For Boating While Intoxicated
NORTHPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A Fort Salonga man has been arrested by Suffolk County police for boating while intoxicated, police announced.
According to police, William Tabert, 52, was operating a 21-foot Malibu motorboat when it struck a 50-foot sailboat that was moored and carrying a family of four.
When officers responded to the scene of the accident in Northport Harbor shortly after midnight on Sunday, they determined that Tabert was intoxicated and subsequently arrested him.
No one was injured in the collision, but both boats sustained minor damage, police said.
Tabert is due to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
