Long Island Is Most Expensive Place To Live In U.S., Website Says
HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Four of the most expensive places in the nation to live in are in the New York metropolitan area, a new report says.
Long Island's Nassau and Suffolk counties collectively took the top spot in the rankings by data search engine FindTheBest. Those counties are 55 percent pricier than the average U.S. city, the report said.
The high cost of living is a problem that needs fixing, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos said.

"We're going to continue to lose our young people," he told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs. "We're going to continue to lose population.
"Our region is dying," he added.
Stamford-Norwalk ranked third on the list, Westchester County was fifth, and New York City eighth.
The website takes into account financial indicators such as housing, health care, taxes and transportation.
