Long Island Family Struggles To Keep Home After Loved One's Murder
HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Geremias Caceres was shot to death in front of his Huntington Station home over two years ago.
Now his family is struggling to hold on to the house, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

The 39-year-old was murdered during a botched robbery.
Since then, the family has struggled to make their mortgage payments and the bank recently rejected an application for a loan modification.
The victim's 19-year-old son Denis appeared saddened when he talked about the possibility of losing his family's home.
"Have a heart because this is not just a simple house. It's just something that my dad wanted. It was his dream," he told Hall. "We have no place to go, you know. I'm still in school."
As Denis talked about his dad, he said he is still hoping for the best.
"He worked hard, you know, to get this house and to support us," he said.
The bank released the following statement Thursday afternoon:
OneWest Bank is always committed to working with our customers to find alternatives to foreclosure. We are sympathetic to the Caceres' circumstances and have been working hard over the years to modify the mortgage under federal guidelines, but unfortunately those guidelines have not presented a solution for which she qualified. We are moving forward with the next set of options for a potential modification and will work diligently to ensure that we explore all available avenues in order to keep the Caceres family in their home.
