FRANKLIN SQUARE, NY (WCBS 880) - The roar of jumbo jets taking off and landing will be more common over Nassau County when new airport flight patterns kick in on Thursday.

Residents in dozens of communities there aren't happy about it.
"Well, of course I don't like it, but, what are we going to do about it?" a Franklin Square resident said.
Some feel helpless to the noise from above due to a new pattern which will now require westbound planes to head east over Nassau and then turn north instead of their usual route over New Jersey.
Kaz is one homeowner who doesn't think he'll even notice the extra noise.
"Well, you know, I think after a while you adjust to it, don't you?" he said to WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.
