1 Person Killed, Several Others Injured In London Knife Attack
LONDON (CBSNewYork) -- One person was killed, and several others injured, in a knife attack in London Wednesday evening.
The London Metropolitan Police said "terrorism is one possibility being explored at this stage" after a man stabbed several people in London's Russell Square.
One woman died in the attack, and five others were injured.
An officer used a Taser to take down and arrest the suspect.
"Early indications suggest mental health is a significant factor in this case and that is one major line of inquiry," a police statement obtained by CBS News said. "But of course at this stage we should keep an open mind regarding motive and consequently terrorism as a motivation remains but one line of inquiry for us to explore."
The NYPD Counterterrorism unit tweeted they are "monitoring the event unfolding in London."
The investigation is ongoing.
