Local College Gets Back In The Polling Game
NEW ROCHELLE, NY (WCBS 880) - Move over Marist and Quinnipiac. There's a new polling center in town: Iona.
LISTEN: WCBS 880's Catherine Cioffi reports
Iona College School of Arts and Science dean Brian Nickerson says they're not really new. They're just re-opening the center that closed in the 1990s.
"There's a real need, probably in the Westchester area and the Hudson Valley region, to do a focus a little bit more on local races that have both regional, and national and statewide importance and that's what we're gonna be focusing our attention," Nickerson told WCBS 880 reporter Catherine Cioffi.
While the center will bring in money, he says they're more excited about the fame that it will bring to the school, a school that's long been considered an underdog.
Nickerson says, "We're pretty much a major player, not only in polling, but within the academic world itself."
