Paramus' Little League World Series Hopes Dashed By Pennsylvania
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — The tiny titans from Paramus aren't headed to the Little League World Series. Instead, they'll travel back to Bergen County after a crushing 5-2 loss to Pennsylvania on Monday.
Resuming Sunday's suspension due to rain, Wyatt Koch hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth, helping lead Keystone Little League of Clinton County, Pa. to the win in Bristol, Conn.
Pennsylvania finished the tournament 6-0, beating Paramus twice and winning the Mid-Atlantic Championship. The team now advances to the LLWS, which starts Thursday in South Williamsport, Penn.
The scoring came quickly against New Jersey on Monday after Paramus ace Hiro Mizutani pitched a scoreless 3 innings yesterday.
Paramus pulled within one run in the top of the fifth with a two-run home run from Nick DeNigris, but Pennsylvania closer Tyler McCloskey put in an insurance run in the top of the sixth and Alex Garbick followed with an RBI.
