Little Girl Killed In Bronx Apartment Fire
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A fatal fire ripped through a Bronx brownstone early Sunday morning.
The fire broke out inside the fourth floor of a brownstone at 977 Grant Ave.
The call came in around 3:10 Sunday morning. It took 60 firefighters about a half an hour to bring the fire under control.
As CBS 2's Alice Gainer reported, a 7-year-old girl died in the fire and a 3-year-old little girl is fighting for her life. She was listed in critical condition at nearby Lincoln Hospital after suffering cardiac arrest, according to police.
The 7-year-old was identified by police as Hazel Martinez.

Another person who was inside the home at the time suffered minor injuries in the fire, Gainer reported.
Both children were pulled from the apartment unconscious and were taken to Lincoln Hospital, where Hazel was pronounced dead.
The fire was believed to have started in the kitchen of the apartment, 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck reported.
"All we hear is screaming from the fourth floor, 'Oh help me, help me! Somebody help me, call 911, call 911!' I look out the window, I look up and all I see is smoke coming out the house, the apartment," a second-floor resident told Schuck.
"They're good kids, they're angels," a neighbor told Schuck.
Many residents have been displaced due to water damage.
Authorities said Sunday evening that the fire was believed to be accidental in nature.
