LISTEN: Francesa Calls G-Men 'Embarrassing, Ridiculous, Infuriating, Frustrating'
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- In what was clearly a must-win game, the Giants lost their Week 5 matchup, 36-21, to the division-rival Eagles at MetLife Stadium.
In what has been a disastrous season, the Giants are now 0-5 for the first time since 1987.
"It has been awful," WFAN host Mike Francesa said on Monday. "Everyone keeps acting like they can turn this around. I don't want to hear any more ridiculous stuff out of (safety) Antrel Rolle with this nonsense. Antrel thinks he has to come on and make the declaration every week. Stop. Stop with they're going to win 11 games in a row now. Stop with all the nonsense.
"Last week for him to come on here and say they were going to win 12 games in a row is utterly ridiculous. Try winning a game first."
Breaking Down The Giants
New York has allowed over 30 points in each of the first five games. And the offense, which has been terrible, struggled again with turnovers this past Sunday. Quarterback Eli Manning, who has had a nightmarish season thus far, was 24 of 52 for 334 yards and two touchdowns.
But he threw three fourth-quarter interceptions which proved costly.
And yet again, the running game was not a factor. Brandon Jacobs rushed for 37 yards on 11 carries and David Wilson rushed for just 16 yards on six carries.
"(It's) embarrassing, ridiculous, infuriating, frustrating -- whatever you want to say," Francesa said. "It's as bad as it could possibly be. It's not even worth saying the season's over. Everybody knows the season's over. Now you're trying to play spoiler, and I don't want to hear how they're going 11-5. Please, stop. Stop already. Try to win a game. Try to win a game."
It won't get any easier for the Giants moving forward.
Big Blue has a short week, as it will take on the Bears in Chicago on Thursday night. The Giants will host the Vikings in Week 7 before heading to Philly for a rematch with the Eagles in Week 8.
Their much-needed bye week will follow.
"This is a mess now," Francesa said. "And this is something that's not gonna get fixed in a day. And, frankly, they might win a couple of games this year, but it's not gonna get fixed this year. And the bloom is off the rose with (coach) Tom (Coughlin), the bloom is off the rose with Eli and the bloom is off the rose with (general manager) Jerry Reese."
