LI's Republic Airport Reopens Following Blizzard
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) -- An airport on Long Island has reopened following the first major snow storm of the season.
Republic Airport has had a fleet of snow blowers and other equipment in operation round-the-clock since Sunday. It says a chartered jet carrying the Montreal Canadiens hockey team is expected to leave Monday afternoon.
The airport is owned by the state Department of Transportation. It has two runways, and handles over 200,000 flight operations every year.
