LIRR Train Detained As Father, Son Carry Realistic-Looking Guns En Route To Comic Con
VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Police briefly detained a Long Island Rail Road train headed to New York City after a pair of passengers got on dressed in camouflage and carrying realistic-looking guns.
The costumed duo turned out to be a father and son headed for the New York Comic Con convention in Manhattan. The weapons were just toys.
Nassau County police let the two go without filing charges.
The incident happened midday on Friday at a station in Valley Stream as thousands of costumed people headed for the convention at New York's Javits Center.
Long Island Rail Road spokesman Salvatore Arena told the New York Post that if the father and son had gone as Batman and Robin, "nobody really would have raised an eyebrow.''
He praised the train crew for being alert.
Probably not the smartest decision a father-son duo has ever made. Offer your thoughts and comments in the section below...
