LIRR: Regular Service To Resume Friday Morning
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) – The Long Island Rail Road says it expects to have regular service restored by Friday morning.
Trains have been running with service disruptions since Sunday after an Amtrak train derailment damaged a rail inside an East River tunnel.

On Thursday afternoon, the LIRR will have a "significantly reduced'' rush-hour schedule. Twenty trains will be canceled and combined with other trains.
As a result of the cancellations, some trains will be more crowded.
Westbound service to Penn Station will terminate at Jamaica and the Port Washington Branch will terminate at Woodside.
Customers should allow extra travel time and expect 10 to 20 minute delays during the afternoon rush.
