LIRR Launches Real-Time Train Arrival Status For Digital Devices

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The MTA has launched its new digital service that shows Long Island Rail Road riders if their train is arriving on time well before they reach the platform.

The program, is which still in the pilot phase, is called Train Time and only reflects the Port Washington branch.

"We're delighted to take the next step to further improve the digital information that makes traveling on the LIRR easier and more rewarding," said LIRR President Helena Williams in a statement. "Now, our customers will be able to get access to the same convenient information offered by real-time electronic signs on our platforms, before they get to the station."

It will be extended to all other lines in the coming months.
