Happy New Year to you and here are some of my personal wishes for 2013 as it relates to sports:
-Stability within the NY Jets organization starting with no future quarterback controversies; production from a "Mark Sanchez of old" OR a quick decision on the organization's part to replace him.
-The Jaguars hire a GM that values the athletic qualities that Tim Tebow possesses; the team trades for him and gives him an opportunity to show his stuff with a magical story line of Tebow turning the franchise around.
-A postseason for the NY Giants. In football, as with anything, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, how about both?
-A healthy NY Knicks team, to continue the success they had when the season first started.
-Welcome back PJ Carlesimo! Here's hoping your interim stint coaching the Brooklyn Nets is successful and leads to a permanent Brooklyn Nets head coach job.
-HOCKEY!
-A sold-out U.S. Women's Open at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton, the week of June 24th. We already know that the best golfers in the women's game will be there and the golf course is spectacular!
-An American repeat winner at the U.S. Men's Open (North Carolinian Webb Simpson won the 2012 U.S. Men's Open played at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. The 2013 U.S. Men's Open will be held at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa., June 13-16) and an American female to win the U.S. Women's Open. Korean Na Yeon Choi beat fellow Korean Amy Yang by four shots in the 2012 tourney. In fact, four of the last five U.S. Open women's champions have come from Korea!
-No discoveries that a legendary, revered athlete achieved his/her greatness by cheating.
-Penn State rebuilds a strong athletic program and reputation for the sake of the student athletes.
-Mariano Rivera, Derek Jeter and a healthy Andy Pettitte reignite the pinstripe magic and lead the N.Y. Yankees to another championship.
-The NY Mets get their finances in order and put together a young, 'blood and guts' kind of team that will make all Mets fans believe in the franchise again.
-And here's wishing you all the joy, peace, prosperity and love you deserve in this New Year. And may your favorite teams WIN!
