Liguori: New Year's Wish List For New York Sports

Happy New Year to you! Why not reach for the sky in hoping for the following in 2012:
1) The Jets front office figures out the meaning of team chemistry and retains the players who not only have the skills needed but also the good character required to stay out of trouble, focus on football and realize there's no 'I' in the word "team". There's a reason why the troublemakers were previously released or traded from other teams.
2) The Giants, peaking at the right time, advance to the Super Bowl.
2) The Mets ownership become willing to take a lesser percentage of the share of the team if an appropriate investor, who comes in with the cash, can solve their financial issues.
3) The Yankees restore their championship mentality and return to the World Series.
4) The Knicks start playing like a team that could go far in the post season and restore some long-lost hoops glory to Madison Square Garden.
5) The Rangers' commitment to homegrown talent and hard work allows them to go on to win their first Stanley Cup since 1994.
6) Americans win the US Open tennis championships in both the men and women's draw.
7) And an American man and woman win the NYC Marathon.
It doesn't hurt to wish 'big.' Although the likelihood of several of these wishes actually happening seems improbable, it doesn't hurt to put these thoughts out there.
Happy New Year to you and may all your sports wishes come true!
