PHOTO: Lightning Strikes Twice For Lake Grove Man

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/CBS 2/WCBS 880) -- A Long Island man was struck by lightning in Lake Grove Monday night, and he says it's not the first time.

Well, sort of.

Philip Colacioppo was struck around 9:30 p.m. at his home on Decatur Lane in Lake Grove. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, and was released Tuesday morning.

Colacioppo told 1010 WINS' reporter Mona Rivera that his den was hit by lightning in June.

The incident happened during the intense storm that pounded the Tri-State Area with heavy rain and hail.

The 33-year-old internet marketer and married father of two said he was jolted a couple of feet and hit his driveway.

Colacioppo told WCBS 880's Sophia Hall he managed to stumble into the house and that is when he felt a burning on his back.

"I just felt something smack me in the back -- really hard.  It stung, it burned, it almost felt like pieces of glass shattering into my back," Colacioppo told CBS 2's John Slattery.

Colacioppo sustained a mark that doctors call "ferning," on his back. Ferning appears when a person is struck by lightning.

The man's wife said she is just grateful her husband is alive.

"I feel very fortunate and very thankful to God that my husband is here," Janine Colacioppo said.

Perhaps it's time to consider moving?
