Light Snow Fall Forecast For Saturday Throughout Tri-State Area
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The Tri-state area got a taste of winter overnight with a light dusting of snow, but more is expected throughout the day.

Forecasters are calling for some snow this morning and there could be another snow shower later today and early tonight, but temperatures are expected to hit a high of 41 degrees.

The National Weather Service says an inch or two of snow is expected to fall in the city on Saturday, and maybe a little more in the suburbs.
There also could be some flurries on Sunday morning. Snow totals are expected to be the highest on eastern Long Island.
The wind could be a deal-breaker for anyone still thinking of heading outdoors. The Weather Service says there could be gusts of over 35 miles an hour on Saturday night, and near 30 mph on Sunday night.

The city's sanitation department was preparing for up to three inches of snow, mostly on grassy, unpaved surfaces.
It was already loading its salt spreaders on Friday.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is also canceling most weekend subway work because of the expected snow. Most trains will run on a regular weekend schedule, except for 1, 2, 7 AND L trains.

In New Jersey, rain is expected to change to all snow Saturday before ending by the evening. Northern parts of the state could get as much as three inches, while southern counties are likely to get about an inch.
Unlike the last wave of snow, temperatures are expected to remain cold throughout the weekend.

Motorists should expect slippery driving conditions.
Police say a driver heading north on Route 23 in Morris County lost control after hitting a slick spot around 6 a.m.
The car spun around and hit a barrier, then landed upside down. Firefighters had to flip the car and then cut it apart to rescue the two people trapped inside.
Neither appeared to be seriously injured but the wreck closed down several northbound lanes in Pequannock.
NJ TRANSIT said it is also closely monitoring the storm to minimize delays and ensure reliable service. The transit agency advises to check its website before starting your trip.
