Light Snow Accumulation Expected Saturday Afternoon
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – New York City could break the record for its snowiest month ever if Saturday's scattered snow showers drop more than 9/10s of an inch.
The city needs just 1 inch to break the record, which is 36.9 inches set in February 2010.
Light snow is expected to start in the afternoon and accumulate into the night. Most of the area will see a light coating while some areas may see that record-breaking inch.

Meanwhile, below freezing temperatures remained overnight in areas of black ice on untreated roads and walkways. Motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution when traveling and allow extra time to reach your destination this morning.
The temperatures won't reach higher than 34—4 degrees below the normal—and will drop to 24—just 2 degree below average—on Saturday night as lingering clouds keep the area cool.
