Light Pole Falls Onto FDR Drive After Being Hit By Car
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A section of the FDR Drive was shut down Friday night when a car hit a light pole – causing it to come crashing down to the roadway.
Just after 9 p.m., all southbound lanes of the FDR were shut down when the car hit the pole. A photo showed the light pole, with two lamp arms, lying on its side at an acute angle over the roadway.
One of the lamps arms was pointing vertically into the air, while the other was on the ground.
The southbound lanes were closed for about an hour, officials told CBS2. They had reopened by 11 p.m., but residual delays persisted.
