Police Arrest 2 In Long Island Bird Fighting Ring
NEW YORK (CBS 2/AP) – Officials arrested two people and discovered 35 roosters in a bird fighting ring on Long Island.
Suffolk County Police said they removed the roosters from at home on Half Mile Road in Central Islip along with equipment used to prepare them for fighting, a fighting ring, scales and spectator seating.
The investigation centered on the two homeowners: Pablo Lopez and Rosa Medero. Lopez and Medero were arrested and charged with two felony counts each of Prohibition of Animal Fighting.
All the spectators were issued appearance tickets and released.
Police said a lengthy investigation led to the arrests.
