Legoland Opens At Ridge Hill Mall In Yonkers
YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The wait is over!
Legoland Discovery Center Westchester officially opened in Yonkers on Wednesday.
The $12 million, 32,300-square-foot space features two rides, a miniature Lego city, a 4-D theater and a play-zone for kids.
The display also features a Manhattan skyline that fades from day to night, complete with crickets and fireworks.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and developer Bruce Ratner were on hand for the grand opening.
"Instantly, I become a 9-year-old again," Astorino told WCBS 880's Paul Murnane.
Ratner said the complex fits his Ridge Hill idea.
"The idea that we really had was you have to build something beautiful, something different," Ratner told Murnane.

General Manager Chris Mines said the center will schedule one-hour time slots to control wait times at the location which is the only Legoland Discovery Center in the Northeast and the fifth in the nation.
The center is located at the Ridge Hill Mall off Exit 6 of the New York State Thruway.
