Filmmaker Laurie Anderson To Host Concert For Dogs In Times Square
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Dog lovers and their pets are in for a treat in Times Square Monday night.
Artist and filmmaker Laurie Anderson will perform live, playing music at low volume for the canine in the audience while humans listens via headphones that will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
The free concert starts at 11:30 p.m. and culminates with a 3-minute edit of Anderson's feature film "Heart of a Dog,'' a collection of stories about love and mortality. The film was shortlisted for an Academy Award nomination.
According to the Times Square website, the event is being held in honor of 9/11 first responder dogs, to which Anderson's film is partly dedicated.
The "Heart of a Dog'' fragment will be repeated nightly in January between 11:57 p.m. and midnight. It's part of Midnight Moment in which Times Square billboards become a digital art gallery. It's presented by Times Square Arts and the Times Square Advertising Coalition.
