Lack Of Sand To Mean More Crowded Beach At Robert Moses
BABYLON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - One of Long Island's most popular beaches will be a little more crowded this Memorial Day weekend, WCBS 880 Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.

"There's not enough sand on the beach for people to put blankets on, and it's as simple as that," state parks spokesman George Gorman told Xirinachs of the situation at Robert Moses State Park's Field 5. "At the high tide, there's no sand."
Gorman said the lack of sand will force a partial closure there.
He said that, hopefully, Mother Nature will return what she took away in time for the big 4th of July weekend.
"Hopefully, we'll start seeing the sand replenish, and we'll start to see the sand get back on the beaches," he said.
