L.I. Woman Saves Family From House Fire
RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (WCBS 880) -- A Long Island woman was being credited for helping save a family when their home went up in flames.
Marilyn Carrano began to cry after telling WCBS 880's Sophia Hall about how she woke up around 4 a.m. and saw a glow through her bedroom window. Her neighbor's house on Ontario Street in Ronkonkoma was on fire, and she and her husband went to work rescuing the people.
"So I woke my husband up. He went out through the back to get a hose, and I went to the front door to get the people out," Carrano said. "I kept knocking on the door, knocking on the door and no one was answering. Then I heard 'somebody help us'," Carrano said.

Three people lived in the one-story home, a man, his daughter, and his 2-year old granddaughter. "And I yelled 'where's the baby?' and he said 'I threw her over the fence.' She was at my feet and I didn't know because it was so dark," Carrano said.
She picked up the baby. The child along with the two adults were taken to the hospital for treatment.
"It was kind of sad, kind of sad but as long as they are OK," she said.
