L.I. Mom Faces Leandra's Law Drunk Driving Charge After Car Overturns With Daughter Inside
MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Police say a Long Island woman was drunk when her car drifted off the road, struck a parked vehicle and overturned with her 6-year-old daughter inside.
Phyllis Lindberg of Massapequa was charged with aggravated DWI under Leandra's Law on Monday.
Police say she was driving on Sunrise Highway near East Chestnut Street in Massapequa when the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m.
"At some point she drifted off the roadway, struck and unoccupied parked car, causing her vehicle to overturn," Nassau County police officer Vincent Garcia told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall.

Lindberg and her daughter were treated at a hospital for neck and back pain.
She was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
It wasn't immediately clear if Lindberg had a lawyer.
The child was turned over to her father.
"It could have been much worse. Neither of the occupants of the vehicle was seriously hurt," Garcia said.
