L.I. Man Seeks Man Who Helped Rescue Him From Icy Water
FREEPORT, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - A Long Island man wants to thank the hero who saved him from the freezing water after he jumped in to save his dog.
Again and again, 49-year-old Nicholas Secchi told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall how thankful he is to be alive, to be able see his children, ages 8 and 11, again.
It was on March 4 when he said his 12-week-old dog jumped into the icy water in Milburn Pond Park in Freeport.
Then Secchi jumped in to save his pup and got stuck in the three feet of water because he was standing on mud.

Then out of nowhere, a man came and saved his dog and then his life.
"Really courageous, this guy was," Secchi told Hall. "He tried to pull me out. He couldn't budge me. I was glued."
Secchi said 911 was called and soon police officers helped rescue Secchi.
He said he wants the good Samaritan to come forward so he can thank him.
"If it wasn't for him, I'd be as good as dead," he said.
"You saved my children from not having a father," Secchi wants to tell him.
