L.I. High School Student Accused Of Stabbing Classmate In Lunchroom
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A 20-year-old high school student was charged Wednesday evening with stabbing a fellow student in a school lunchroom on Long Island.
Oscar Castaneda, of Uniondale, attacked a 16-year-old male victim just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the lunchroom at Uniondale High School, Nassau County police said.
Castaneda allegedly walked up to the younger boy, took out a sharp object, and stabbed the boy in the back and neck, police said. The boy was left with a punctured lung, and was taken to an area hospital in an unspecified condition.
Castaneda was arrested, and charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said. He was to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
The motive for the attack was unknown Wednesday night.
