L.I. Church Needs New Space To Store Sandy Relief Supplies
BRENTWOOD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island church that helped thousands of people in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy is now asking the public for help.
St. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Brentwood desperately needs warehouse space to house $200,000 worth of disaster relief supplies that were donated to help victims of the October storm.

Parish outreach director Deborah Kirnon said the basement they've been using as a temporary storage space has been leased out and if they don't move out by Aug. 1 they might have to throw out the supplies.
"We have boxes and boxes of clothes," Kirnon said. "Mattresses, first aid kits, blankets, tarps, flashlights, batteries, boxes of food that can feed families of four up to three days."
Kirnon wants to keep the distribution center open in the event of another disaster.
"That will help so many people," Kirnon said.
St. Anne's, which was designated as a disaster distribution center by the American Red Cross, helped 17,000 families after Sandy.
