Knicks' Ronny Turiaf Close To Joining French Club Asvel

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- It appears Ronny Turiaf is about to follow Deron Williams' lead and play overseas.

Asvel says Turiaf will play for the French club during the NBA lockout.

The Knicks center will likely join San Antonio Spurs guard and fellow Frenchman Tony Parker, who is a part owner of Asvel and also has agreed to play for the club during the lockout.

But according to his agent, the deal isn't yet done.

"There's definitely a lot of insurance things that have to be worked out," Mark Bartlestein told The New York Post.

Turiaf told Asvel's website on Monday that he plans to arrive in France on Thursday and start practicing with the club this weekend.

The 28-year-old says he has recovered from a left hand injury that kept him out of this summer's European Championship, where France lost the final to Spain.
