Knicks' Melo After Loss To Lowly Bucks: 'It Hurts, Man'
MILWAUKEE (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Knicks have hit a new low in their roller-coaster season, losing to the NBA's worst team in the closing seconds Monday night.
Brandon Knight made a 3-pointer with 1.4 seconds as the Milwaukee Bucks snapped a six-game losing streak with a 101-98 win over the streaky Knicks.
"It hurts, man," said forward Carmelo Anthony, who finished with 36 points. "Despite what went on throughout the course of the game, we still had a chance, we felt, to win this basketball game."
Milwaukee had lost 15 of 16 going into the game.
Knight saved the most important of his 25 points for last, responding after Anthony hit a 3-pointer with 19.4 seconds left.
"(Knight) hit that shot," Anthony said. "But this is one of them games we're going to look back at it and say we should've won."
Raymond Felton leaped into the air with an outstretched arm to try to disrupt Knight, then turned in disbelief as the Bucks guard rushed down the other end to celebrate. The Knicks had one last chance, though Anthony misfired on a deep 3 before stumbling back into the first row of seats as time expired.
The Bucks improved to 9-39 while the Knicks dropped to 19-29.
"I thought we played kind of on a roller coaster," coach Mike Woodson said. "When it was time to really try and secure it, we couldn't get it done."
The Knicks lost a second straight following a four-game winning streak. New York has also had streaks of five wins and nine losses, too. Let's hope this isn't the start of another bad run.
"You can lose any night," center Tyson Chandler said. "It doesn't matter who you play against. No wins in the NBA are free. You got to come out and you got to earn them."
