Knicks Host Steve Nash, But Toronto Reportedly Ready To Offer Big Bucks
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The dash for Nash hit the Big Apple on Sunday.
The Knicks hosted longtime Suns point guard Steve Nash for three hours on the first day of free agency, according to the New York Post.
Nash was "told ... of sign-and-trade scenarios" with Phoenix that would net the two-time MVP more money from the Knicks, the Post reported. But the paper also said Toronto brass "invaded" New York on Sunday and are prepared to offer Nash a three-year contract worth more than $30 million.
Nash has said he'd consider New York, but would he take less money to play at Madison Square Garden?
The Knicks still think they have "a little shot," a source told the Post. The 38-year-old calls Manhattan home during the NBA offseason.
The Brooklyn Nets "plan" to meet with Nash on Monday, the paper reported.
Jeremy Lin, with his Bird rights restored, is expected to re-sign with New York. The Raptors were reported to have interest in bringing Linsanity to Toronto earlier this offseason.
