Knicks Have Company? Jeremy Lin, Steve Nash Reportedly On Raptors' Radar
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Perhaps it's only fitting the Toronto Raptors reportedly have eyes for Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin.
After all, Linsanity arguably reached its peak on their home court. The Raptors had a season-high crowd of 20,092 on hand on Feb. 14 to watch Lin drain a game-winning 3-pointer in the final second. Sure, the Knicks took that game -- but the Lin effect was on full display in Canada.
Extending the phenom is reportedly among the top items on Knicks owner James Dolan's to-do list, and it sounds as though Lin would like to return. He is expected to receive a large chunk — if not all — of the club's $5 million mid-level exception.
But New York could have company.
Steve Nash is option No. 1 for Toronto, but the Raptors like Lin "and what he'd do for their attendance," according to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News.
If Nash falls through, the franchise beyond the border might offer a back-loaded contract to the restricted free agent "and hope that the Knicks would not match," Lawrence reported.
New York has also been linked to Nash. Knicks forward Amar'e Stoudemire even pined for his former Phoenix Suns teammate last week.
