Knicks Fined $200,000 For Workouts
GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - A person with knowledge of the decision says the NBA has fined the New York Knicks $200,000 for conducting illegal draft workouts.
Knicks scout Rodney Heard, who led the workouts, also will be fined $20,000, the person told The Associated Press on Thursday on the condition of anonymity because the league had not announced the penalties.
The fines, first reported by the New York Times, were expected to be revealed later Thursday.
The league has been investigating the Knicks since a Yahoo! Sports report in October that Heard conducted workouts of draft prospects over three years in violation of the league's rules.
