Police: KKK Recruitment Fliers Found On Cars, Lawns In Patchogue
PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Ku Klux Klan recruitment fliers were found scatted on lawns and tucked into cars in one Suffolk County neighborhood.
The fliers were found on Baker Street and at the nearby Long Island Rail Road station in Patchogue, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.
One local resident said he was sickened by the fliers.
"I think it's terrible that they do this type of stuff," he said. "We don't need any more hate. We need a little more love, a little more peace."
This isn't the first time Patchogue residents have seen these fliers posted around the neighborhood. In December 2015, the town saw a similar scene when fliers promoting the Ku Klux Klan were left on cars parked at a Long Island hospital and nearby apartment complex
In November 2015, KKK recruitment fliers had also been left on cars in Hampton Bays, to the dismay of many residents. Police also launched a similar investigation in September, 2014 after KKK fliers were found in West Babylon and Shirley.
In 2008 an Ecuadorian immigrant was stabbed to death in a hate crime attack not far from where the fliers were most recently posted.
Police have been notified about the fliers.
